Velodrone – “Count to Three” + “Coming Home”

/

Los Angeles-based trio Velodrone unveil a gripping shoegaze sound across two new tracks: “Count to Three” and “Coming Home.” The work of singer-songwriter Marisa Dewa impresses, infusing a classical music background within a clear adoration for textured, shoegaze-forward rock. Drummer Zachary Bernstein and bassist Danielle Casenas also impress with their rhythmic precision.

Uplifting and melodic, “Count to Three” moves seamlessly from fuzzy guitar warmness into a quainter “come follow me / just believe I’ll set you free,” reassurance. Bouncy bass and more sporadic washes of guitar enamor there, shifting into a stylishly delectable darkness in the title-touting “one, two…” climactic appeal. Twanging guitar additions in the finale bolster the overall feeling of momentum. Also consuming, “Coming Home” dazzles with a steadier tonal daze into grimy guitar propulsions and a head-nodding rhythmic sensation.
