Sunnyland – “Everyone Except for Me” + “Try”

/

Seattle-based duo Sunnyland impress with a heartfelt, melodic rock appeal — evidenced enjoyably on the tracks “Everyone Except for Me” and “Try.” Twangy guitars drive a caressing charm across “Everyone Except for Me,” whose lyrical perspectives on choices being right/wrong compel amidst a glistening guitar presence. Also enamoring is the backing vocal reflection during moments like the “am I so used of dying every day?” hook. Sporadic doses of prancing keys bolster with added replay-inducing illumination.

Equally compelling, “Try” is introspectively compelling — “I wonder what people think of me,” the vocals let out, venturing thereafter into bursting guitars. The aspirational verses — though “I feel just like an idiot,” and hoping for a difference in one’s outcome — compel throughout. The title-touting hook dazzles in the textured guitar tones and multi-layered vocals. These two cuts are fantastic displays in songwriting and sincere lyrical prowess from Sunnyland.
