An infectious rock immediacy permeates throughout “Nothing Ever Tasted So Good,” a single from Berlin-based band Speaking Is A Gun. Described as their first rock ‘n’ roll track, the production stirs in its fervent vocal work, expressive guitars, and precise rhythm section — propelled by bassist Max Prieß and drummer Damian Baran. Singer, rhythm guitarist, and songwriter Florian Begenau electrifies alongside, capturing a sort of madly-in-love confessional in the track’s lyrical adorations and sweltering rock heat.
A guitar-led momentum builds right away, traversing from a crowd-set ambient backing and clanging steadiness into a more rhythmically intense accompaniment. The bouncy bass, steady percussion, and jumpy guitar lead intertwine seamlessly as the tonally debonair yet briskly paced vocals of Begenau take hold. A title-touting remarking unveils with contagious allure, punctuated by the “since I love you,” bolstering. A clear sense of smitten is artfully conveyed — especially as the finale essentially eats up the object of affection: “Your hair tasted so good – YOU never tasted so good.”
Bluesy, no-frills guitar work beckons with a classic-rock nostalgia, furthered by the use of “an original Marshall 100 Lead from 1972” and the initial party sounds — drawn from an actual studio-set party at the Rockhaus, where the band recorded the track. “Nothing Ever Tasted So Good” is an audible good time from Speaking Is A Gun.
