Red Birds – “For Show”

/

A clanging, hypnotic folk-rock appeal shows on “For Show,” a recent track from Red Birds, a trio based in Elkton, Maryland. The lyrics seemingly elude to passages of time, where life events and personal habits change with complementing introspection. “I don’t smoke anymore, except after school,” the solemn vocals ruminate amidst twanging guitar tones.

“My friend’s dad is in heart failure. The other day my sister married,” these depictions further illustrate — artfully bridging a potential end to life with a representation of newness in matrimony. “Slow it down, and you’ll be fine,” the vocals continue into the conclusion, urging to “take your time,” in the midst of a tumultuous array of life events. “For Show” is a gripping, anesthetic success from Red Birds.

The track comes via the band’s new album, Things We Thought We Were Done With, streaming below:

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
