London-based trio hazy waters beckon for attention — and certainly succeed in doing so — with the fervent rock success “attention.” Their debut single builds with satiating impact from bass-heavy intrigue into buzzing guitars and a series of memorable hooks. “I want you in my mind,” dreamy vocal entrancement compels amidst jangling guitar momentum, shifting thereafter as a more elongated vocal builds into a lush vocal backing. The spoken-word vocal suaveness melds with a clanging bass line for an especially inviting sequence, arriving into a satiating finale with enjoyable shades of Wolf Alice.
The band describes the release as “about the cycle of seeking validation from someone who weaponises your vulnerability – equal parts rage and release.” This is a fantastic debut that certainly has us anticipating what’s next from hazy waters.
