Chicago-based singer-songwriter Frank Sintich crafts a powerful success in “Hasn’t Stopped Raining Yet,” a new single that speaks to ongoing struggle and the importance to persevere within and beyond that storm. In particular, the track was inspired by the tragedy in New Orleans this past New Year’s Eve. “The lyrics are a metaphor for the continued violence and terrorist attacks on America,” Sintich says. “I have a family of friends that reside in the French Quarter and I make New Orleans my second home. So the events that occurred that evening drove me to write about it, and effected me deeply.”
A blaring organ and twangy, desert-set guitar tones craft a cinematic appeal to get started. Sintich’s title-touting declaration emerges thereafter, remarking on how “dark clouds hang low in the sky.” The jangly guitars and stomping percussive feeling lend a hypnotic undercurrent, as Sintich asks “how long will this storm last?” with solemn entrancement.
The weary lyrical depictions — of rain pouring down every day — linger into twangy, lonesome guitar tones past mid-point. Sensations of ongoing grief resonate within this sturdy rock, folk, and psychedelic intertwining — marking a thorough success from Frank Sintich, artfully exploring the human condition’s tendency for tumult — though also ensuing perseverance.
