Excelling across both dark synth-laden ruminations and brighter effervescence, “A Million Times” is a immersive new track from Fernando’s Eyes, the new solo project from Fernando Honorato. The Stockholm-based artist is noted for his work as the lead singer and songwriter of Principe Valiente, and now succeeds in the solo realm as well. The track releases within a three-song EP, which also includes two remixes — one by Albert Severin and the other by Magic Wands.
The track’s memorable production melds a moody ’80s pop nostalgia with relatable lyrical introspection, championing personal growth while also being aware of the difficulty in diverting from familiar patterns. “Let me see the stars and leave this behind,” Honorato sings within hazy electric guitars and steady percussion, invoking that sense of departing from an unideal past and looking toward a brighter future. The ensuing chorus radiates with an uptick in vocal and synth-y shimmering. “I’ve felt like this a million times before,” he lets out there, bolstered by magnetic synth prancing as the hypnotic percussion and sturdy guitar distortion remain.
In addition to the fantastic “A Million Times,” both remixes compel with their own unique personalities. Albert Severin’s remix fully embraces the electronic spectrum, immersing with a pulsing synth-bass and driving ’80s danceability; the effect is especially memorable as soaring vocals take hold into the four-minute mark. Magic Wands’ remix also stirs, this time melding shoegaze-y guitar envelopments with the track’s already-melodic fervency.
