ELROD – “Staring At The Sun”

/

Nashville-based songwriter and producer ELROD showcases a melodic rock appeal on “Staring At The Sun,” which intertwines the metaphor of staring into an eclipse — without protective glasses — with the break-up of a relationship. “I didn’t have any protective glasses but I just HAD to see it,” ELROD says of the solar eclipse last year. “My ex thought it was really funny that I needed to see it that bad that I would risk my vision. Post breakup, it turned into a metaphor of sorts where I was “blinded” by factors in my life contributing to the decline of the relationship.”

“I got a guilty conscience and it’s killing me today,” a steady vocal immersion lets out amidst jangling guitars. An illuminated synth-laden intrigue interweaves seamlessly, developing into the textured distortion-friendly central hook that ensues. “I’m not laughing, but I’m having fun,” the vocals continue there with infectious qualities. The track compels consistently in its escalations from subdued, jangling introspection into a more raucously invigorating chorus, inducing replays in its sense of heartfelt sincerity and climactic structural satiation.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
