Electron – “Echoes of a Dying World”

/

A synth-touched metalcore captivation shows on “Echoes of a Dying World,” a memorable new track from Electron, a London-based project originally from Portugal. The impactful aesthetic is complemented by a thematic poignancy, capturing a world witnessing environmental and societal destruction. Wildfires in countries like Portugal and beyond have been a common sight the past year, especially, and this track captures the unsettling anxiety conjured by that reality — in addition to recollections of the modern human condition, where one struggles to find meeting in a tumult-filled world.

“Echoes of a Dying World” builds with a climactic, charismatic electro-rock fusing. A spacey synth-laden intrigue swells quickly into doses of intense guitar distortion. The vocal delivery is similarly dynamic, spanning from an initially subdued lushness and nocturnal guitar crawls into an invigorating catharsis: “Your mind is awake, but your soul is asleep.” A screaming intensity punctuates this sequence, cohesively moving thereafter into the “broken dreams, fractured hopes,” melancholic introspection.

“So out of reach, so out of sight!” the vocals consume during another ardent sequence. An electrifying guitar solo takes hold in the ensuing moments, building into a satiating finale where the heavy guitar tones and bustling synth effects intermingle for a final time. “Echoes of a Dying World” is an impassioned, melodic hard-rocking success from Electron.
