Django Duyns – “A Universe”

Another strong showing from Amsterdam-based singer-songwriter Django Duyns, “A Universe” stirs in its twangy, affecting rock outpouring. “Walk across the universe, saying it doesn’t hurt,” a contemplative vocal presence exudes within jangling guitar lushness and a bouncy bass line. A twangy guitar brightness enters thereafter, continuing to balance infectious immediacy and melancholic lingering. “I don’t regret the day we met,” his alluring vocals continue, showing shades of The Strokes in the general guitar progressions, though with a moodier disposition in the vein of Last Dinosaurs. A string-laden final section caps it all off with sating effect.

The track comes via the artist’s excellent new album, True Blue Vision, streaming below:

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
