Brendan Pegg – “Good Night”

/

A heart-on-sleeve infusion of folk and pop enamors on “Good Night,” a new single from Los Angeles-based artist Brendan Pegg that lyrically recounts a memorable personal connection. “Started with the look that you give me, from all the way across the room,” Pegg sings amidst steady acoustic pulses, arriving at a smitten introspection within the yearning pleading: “don’t you ever get out of my sight.” The ensuing central chorus — “we had a good night,” — dazzles in its layered vocal work and debonair hookiness.

A swelling momentum, from quaint acoustic strums into a twangy soaring, proves especially inviting just prior to the two-minute turn. Thereafter, the recollections of that beloved night — wherein they stayed up until the sunrise — continue with a melodically charming allure, then capped off by an electronic-touched vocal effect. “Good Night” appeals in its easy-going structural drive and heartfelt lyrical output, making for a folk-pop delight from Brendan Pegg. The track comes via his upcoming album, Be Ok, Good Night.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Folk.
