Allan Jamisen – “Living the Dream”

/

A dreamy and soulful rock entrancement shows throughout “Living the Dream,” a new single from Phoenix-based composer and painter Allan Jamisen. The track is our first look at Jamisen’s upcoming album, Life Lessons, from which “Living the Dream” is one of its ten tracks. Gospel-inspired backing vocal soulfulness melds with a rainy-day rock feeling, bolstered by soaring guitar lines and steady rhythms. The release’s memorable production aligns with a consuming thematic outlook, encouraging one to embrace a life that’s genuinely exciting to them.

“It’s always darkest before the dawn, at the intersection of right or wrong,” the vocals open with introspective allure, fondly reminiscent of Tindersticks in its solemn tonal deepness. A soulful vocal backing sends chills during the title-touting refrain, casting a stormy-day intrigue in its debonair electric guitars and serene backing acoustics. Dashes of spacey synths add to the compelling soundscape following each chorus, with an especially memorable drive in the final minute. “I’m living the dream,” the vocal layers repeat there as twanging guitars invigorate, sporadic between soulful passion and moody rock enamoring. “Living the Dream” is a grippingly atmospheric showcase in songwriting and production from Allan Jamisen.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
