Turning Birds – “Reverse Psychologia”

/

Chicago-based band Turning Birds craft a breezy rock appeal on new single “Reverse Psychologia,” described as “the story of a couple in counseling, battling through the feelings of inflicted wounds.” The band further explains that it asks the questioin: “Can we be playfully transparent about hurting the ones we love?”

Panting percussion and pulsing guitar tones, resembling a reggae-friendly tempo at points, accompany vocals that are enjoyably narrative in the “that ain’t no way to treat your lover,” sentiments blending with psychologist-laden spoken-word segments. The “don’t hold back,” central hook enamors with the ardent, responsive vocal punctuations and steady guitar flourishes. “Reverse Psychologia” is an amiable, introspective success from Turning Birds.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
