The Woven Project – ‘Let Beautiful In: Rewoven’ EP

The Woven Project captivated with their 2023 EP, Let Beautiful In — ranging from the string-laden dreamy balladry of “Victimless Crime” to the piano-touched dream-pop vocal duet “44.” Their introspective, calmingly melodic sound is full of atmosphere and emotion — melding folk, pop, and atmospheric electronic adornments with replay-inducing allure. Initially formed as a lo-fi acoustic duo by Batey and Barnes, the project expanded into a more eclectic tour-de-force — bolstered by violinist and vocalist Jasmine Weatherill, especially, in addition to hypnotic rhythmic elements.

While The Woven Project’s 2023 EP shines in its own right, the recently released Let Beautiful In: Rewoven consumes in its creative interpretations from remixing artists. Kicking it off, “44 – Foll Remix” embraces a glitchier vocal lead amidst pit-pattering percussion and spacey ambient synth effects. Foll produced the original EP, and enthralls with this more glitchy, electronic-embracing version. Another stunner, “Victimless Crime (Club of Rome Remix)” showcases a spacious rhythmic realm alongside the moody guitar twangs and haunting vocals. “The sparse instrumentation gave me ample room to add my rhythmic elements,” says producer Snowy, of the band Club of Rome. “I reinterpreted the lyrics to be more questioning and centered on culpability, perfectly reflecting my darker creative vision.”

The band NEEB also compel with their take on “Victimless Crime,” intoxicating with jazzy keys and additional drums/bass. Closing out the remix EP, “Let Beautiful In (Dave Martin Remix Edit)” draws from Martin’s club influences in its hypnotic electro feeling, while also retaining the original’s chilly soundscape. “I explored various creative avenues, learning and experimenting until I found a vibe that captured its emotional depth, diverging from my usual club banger style,” Martin says. All the remixes within this new EP are immersive, atmospheric gems.

“44 – Foll Remix” and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
