Taz Taylor Band – “Lonely I Ride”

/

A soulful rock catharsis immerses on “Lonely I Ride,” a rousing new single from San Diego-based Taz Taylor Band. Coming via their upcoming album, The Other Side of Midnight, “Lonely I Ride” touts a powerful production — propelled especially by Laura K. Vreeland’s soaring vocal passion and the electrifying guitar work of British/American artist Taz Taylor. Also starring on the track are keyboardist Alessandro Del Vecchio, bassist Barney Firks, and drummer Dave Steinman. The single has us fully anticipating The Other Side of Midnight, which releases on May 14th.

The Other Side of Midnight represents the band’s 8th album, and marks the first time it features a vocalist who’s a member of the band. While past releases featured an array of guest vocalists, particularly in the case of their previous Nocturnal, the upcoming album excels with Vreeland as the consistent lead. Taylor’s guitar work remains a prominent and impressive presence, alongside the other talented musicians, and now the band is further bolstered by Vreeland’s ardent vocal precision.

Emotive piano and twanging guitars intertwine with compelling qualities, as Vreeland’s vocals embark with a title-touting declaration. “I need to reset, to survive,” she lets out, conveying themes of perseverance and renewal within. “Had to face all of my demons, once and for all,” the vocals continue, arriving into a stirring “lonely I ride on my way back home,” soulful enthrallment. Taylor’s expressive guitar work is especially striking past the three-minute turn, carrying thereafter into a fully satisfying finale.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
