Sungaze – “House on the Hill”

/

A dreamily enticing success from Cincinnati-based band Sungaze, “House on the Hill” swells from lush intrigue into a soaring, textured shoegaze-friendly ardency. The track follows the act’s self-titled album, released last year.

Led by Ivory Snow and Ian Hilvert, Sungaze thoroughly envelop with this escalating success. “She’s only happy when it rains,” an introspective vocal presence lets out, alongside gentle guitar strums and a chiming resonance. “There’s a reason behind everything,” they continue, building thereafter into a cathartic vocal ascent with bouncier rhythmic pulses and fuzzier guitar entrancement. “House on the Hill” consistently delights in its spanning from serene heart-aching and more rousing emotive rises, like the spine-chilling dream-pop guitar whirring at the three-minute turn.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
