Shape Of Water – “Naked”

/

A catchy and seductive alt-rock and pop sound shines on “Naked,” a memorable new track from Shape Of Water. The Manchester, England-based project was formed in 2018 by Rox Capriotti and Luca De Falco — and they have a new album, their third, on the way this year. The new single is described as exploring “themes of intimacy and vulnerability, capturing the raw essence of a sexual experience with its intense and passionate lyrics.”

Twangy, lonesome guitar tones complement a solemn vocal introspection. “A world of pleasure hidden in the dark,” the vocals intrigue, traversing thereafter into sharp guitar swipes and buzzing synth-bass. A brisk, pulsing rock contagiousness takes hold momentarily as breezy guitars align with more ardent vocals. “Naked” consistently engages in its structural dynamics, alternating seamlessly between the moody atmospherics and “words trembling on my tongue / begging for you touch,” spirited rock yearning. A soaring guitar solo further invigorates as the two-minute turn approaches, then dazzling into a punchy guitar/synth intertwining as the production comes to a satiating finish.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
