Robert McGinty – ‘Reflections’

An uplifting, lush classical sound enamors across Reflections, the newest album from Manchester-based artist Robert McGinty. The release is a follow-up to Chanson à La Lune, which caught our ears recently with its ravishing production — spanning from Spanish guitar music to baroque and classical inspirations. Reflections continues McGinty’s knack for gorgeous compositions with a timeless feeling and diverse suitability — appropriate for calming oneself while driving in bumper-to-bumper traffic, reading a book by a warming fireplace, or any in-between of chaos and serenity.

Reflections enamors with compositions with piano and guitar in mind, in addition to tracks composed for flute and strings. The throwback fun of “Ragtime Special” is another notable production. “I was inspired by classical works by Vivaldi and Joseph Haydn for the piano pieces, Scott Joplin and Liberace for The Ragtime Special with traditional syncopation at the start and a more showtime feel at the end of the piece,” McGinty explains.

The title track opens with an elegant piano-driven beauty, fit for ballrooms of the 1700s as the illuminated instrumentation frolics with a sense of wedding-time delight. “The Brightness of the Morning” continues the magnetic piano work and sun-shining charm. “The Elysian Slumber” expands the instrumentation into a twinkling, orchestral realm — particularly captivating with its heartfelt strings. Flute is a starring component within “The Whimsical Waltz,” another showcase in riveting songwriting with a serenely enchanting glow. Reflections marks another modern classical success from Robert McGinty.
