A haunting rock captivation shows on “Out Of Place,” a thorough success from Helsinki-based band Moonwards. Sturdy rhythms invoke a post-punk nostalgia, while intense guitars echo an ardent alt-rock and shoegaze intertwining. The vocals maintain a cool and collected tone throughout the patiently unraveling first half, shifting around the 03:30 mark as ominous tones lead into a thunderous, dynamic second half. A beautiful vocal soaring takes hold a couple minutes later, culminating in a gorgeously emotive final minute.
