mlady – “Baby Water Blue”

/

Denver-based band mlady craft a warming, dreamy rock appeal on new single “Baby Water Blue.” Lush guitar tones and calming vocal introspection meld enjoyably to start, invoking feelings of a hecticness in the “always running,” line — and an ensuing yearning for tranquility/home. The “just an empty shell,” lyricism furthers a sense of not feeling whole, attaining a cathartic vocal soaring thereafter in the delectably chilly chorus. “Baby Water Blue” is an artfully serene rock success from mlady.

The band elaborates on the track’s water-centric theme and overall message:

“Baby Water Blue was written as an ode to both water in nature & that constant thrum that inhabits the body and mind – the ongoing trickle of thought, the mouth that’s always running, the buzzing energy that keeps one from sleep without aid of a small, round pill wrapped in foil. Water is movement even at its most serene and Baby Water Blue plays into that energy, swelling into a large, gazey chorus, with lyrics reflecting the restlessness of both the water and that search for a feeling of home.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
