Martone – “Chocolate (Drumapella Mix)”

An intoxicating blend of house and soulful, danceable pop cohesion shows on “Chocolate (Drumapella Mix),” a recent track from Detroit-based artist Martone. “Chocolate (Drumapella Mix)” comes ahead of a 10th anniversary album release of The Evolution of Martone, out on March 21st. Another single, “Too Bad, So Sad,” also releases on April 21st, and features Intelligent Diva. Clearly, it’s a big start to 2025 for Martone, in showcasing precisely why their house-ready electro-pop sound has made waves the past decade.

In the case of “Chocolate (Drumapella Mix),” its spoken-word vocal momentum and hypnotic rhythmic components immediately showcase a gripping aesthetical flair. “We go down,” a more melodic vocal solemness lets out around mid-point. “Dark as milk chocolate, just how I like it,” the more spoken-word presentation re-emerges, as booming bass and panting vocal expressions linger underneath. “Chocolate (Drumapella Mix)” invigorates in its rhythmic precision and dynamic vocal work throughout.

Martone also has a forthcoming book, Deep & Raw: The Erotica of Martone. A portion of the proceeds from his projects will support initiatives like LGBT Books to Prisoners, furthering a continued focus to uplift repressed and marginalized communities.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
