San Francisco-based band Lemon Generation consume on their recent single “Space Garden.” A hypnotic rock sound appeals throughout, excelling into an emotively anthemic “you didn’t have to leave me,” outpouring. Soaring guitar work comes thereafter, as the jangly undercurrents persist and the melodic vocals fade. A gentle harmonica helps close it all out. These enthralling final segments follow up a twangy, subdued captivation, as vocals ruminate artfully on time and self-discovery.
Elements of Americana and folk linger especially through this first half, then attaining a more textured rock passion into the finale. The band impress in their knack for climactic structural builds, and succeed here with a heady sound and a spacey thematic pull. Lemon Generation describe the track as relating to “the story of a space cowboy’s cosmic adventure— think wanderlust, loneliness, and open road meets open galaxy.” This cinematic, open-road vibe melds with a satiating and dynamic rock/folk/Americana cohesion for a thorough success from Lemon Generation.
