Jim Kroft – “Vampires”

/

An enjoyably peppy rock foreboding stirs on “Vampires,” a track from Jim Kroft. The track represents one of 12 songs Kroft will be releasing throughout 2025. The tracks were recorded in Berlin, where Kroft is based. He wrote them in Mahalla, an arts community housed within a converted German factory “The building is freezing in winter, and Vampires emerged during long, cold nights spent searching for a new musical sound—and the songs to carry it,” Kroft says of “Vampires.” The single also features DeanIsHome, a Berlin-based musician from Bulgaria.

“I cannot fight it!” an opening vocal proclamation stirs, declaring “I’m not dead,” as prancing synths align with contagious guitar lines. The “in the middle of the night, I see vampires,” hook escalates with satiating impact, inducing replays there and in several moments throughout — like the piano-laden “not afraid,” segment past the mid-point. “Vampires” is a lovably theatrical success from Jim Kroft, whose other singles this year we’re certainly now anticipating.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
