Jessamyn Rains – “Love Again”

/

A memorably lush folk success from Jessamyn Rains, “Love Again” yearns for rekindling a love that was once wonderful. Originally from Illinois and now based in Chattanooga, TN, Rains impresses with songwriting that’s relatable and serenely melodic. Comforting lyrical depictions and gently gliding acoustics move into a call-to-action, aspiring to “find love again,” with impactful immersion.

Glistening acoustics craft a dream-like spell into the opening lyrical imagery, which depict insects and animals frolicking in various habitats. “Ladybug on my windowsill, spider climbing up the wall,” Rains sings, perhaps invoking more innocent times of youth when finding a ladybug felt like a spectacle. The sense of yearning for the past is more fully emphasized in the ensuing sequence. “Come on let’s find love again. Remember the good times, forget all the band,” Rains implores here, complemented by a dreamy vocal wordlessness. Lovely piano adornments bolster the second half, which continues the production’s emotively affecting charms.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Folk.
