Jane N’ The Jungle – “Disco Lemonade”

/

An invigorating, darkly affecting alt-rock success from Phoenix-based band Jane N’ The Jungle, “Disco Lemonade” comes via their upcoming album — produced by Cameron Mizell (Avril Lavigne, Sleeping With Sirens, Memphis May Fire). The track’s production enthralls in its overall range, venturing from menacing momentum within the verses — asking “why do we bite the hand that holds us?” — into an anthemic central hook. “Was I just your pretty thing?” frontwoman Jordan White sings there, complemented by a stirring dose of guitar distortion. Further lyrical depictions of “losing my empty mind,” continue the climactic ascent, into another resonating chorus.

An especially melodic bridge arises in the “heaven doesn’t seem so far away,” segment, which thoroughly showcases White’s vocal theatrics. Her more elongated, theatrical yearning is gripping there and in the cohesive re-arrival in the chorus. “Disco Lemonade” marks a thoroughly infectious and moody rock success from the act, which comprises childhood friends Jordan White and Brian Dellis. They note the release as being inspired by the ’90s hit “Sex and Candy,” — interpreted here through the female perspective.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
