The new EP from GOOW, VISIONS showcases a blissful electronic sound that concocts specific imagery — as invoked in the descriptive track titles. Opening track “You Finally Go Out for a Walk on a Warm and Sunny Spring Day” eases in with glimmering keys and bouncy percussive moments, feeling reflective of one’s joints kicking into full gear as they embark on a walk, on a serene spring day. The one-minute turn unveils a more spacious illumination, perhaps as the walker comes to slight pause, whilst marveling at the beauty around them, before resuming again.
The project of Egor Efimuk thoroughly captivates in its immersive soundscapes. “I always wanted to create music that would be interesting to listen to very carefully, with full attention,” he says. “On the other hand, it should also be a good background for daily routine, just to set the mood for work or evening book reading.” That is certainly achieved with this VISIONS EP.
A more introspective takes hold on the next track, moving between quaint keys and ardent expanses of rock-minded guitars. “You Notice Something Strange and Watch Until You Realise That You’re Standing on the Verge of a Fascinating Discovery” — it’s a mouth-full of a description, though aptly representative of the diverse journey within. A somber drone-forward approach excels on the finale “You Look into the Sky. Nothing Makes Sense, but You Don’t Care Anymore,” infusing a live-performed kalimba amidst the gentle haze of synths. Treat your weekend with a walk outdoors, or perhaps a spring cleaning around the house, and put on the magnetic VISIONS EP from GOOW.
