familyfriend. – “Hollywood”

/

Hazy synth and suave vocals lead an infectious entrancement on “Hollywood,” a recent single from familyfriend. — a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and performer based in Nottingham, England. A balmy, soulful vocal presence is complemented by a woozy synth presence, into a compelling “that’s Hollywood,” repetition. A spirited escalation shows thereafter, as the vocals ask “did you hear all the gossip coming off the tabloid?” with strumming guitar additions. A soaring, psych-friendly electric guitar emanates subsequently, into a replay-inducing conclusion.

“I wrote it about the rise of celebrity culture, how vacuous and uninteresting it should all be, and yet it has an insidious addictive quality even if you’ve got no vested interest in it all,” familyfriend. explains, noting that “Hollywood” is the fifth of five singles from an upcoming album.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
