Listen: Eleri Ward - "Venusian Light" -- Obscure Sound

Eleri Ward – “Venusian Light”

/

Eleri Ward showcases a captivating pop appeal on “Venusian Light,” where her multi-instrumental abilities and songwriting talents are on full display. Synths, electric guitar, banjo, and electro-minded rhythms complement Ward’s riveting vocal presence, reminiscent of Kate Bush in its striking range and theatrical emotion. The release represents the third and final single from Ward’s upcoming album, which we’re certainly anticipating following “Venusian Light” and the previous two singles: “There You Go” and “Float.”

“Suddenly I so bright, walking in Venusian light,” Ward’s gripping vocals let out, following an atmospheric build of lush piano and twanging guitars. “Now I’m a new kind of love,” the vocals attain a ghostly captivation thereafter, with shades of Kate Bush in the dynamic tonal prowess. The final minute is especially enthralling — proclaiming “I ride into the Venusian light,” as expressive vocal reflections play alongside thumping rhythms. Succeeding in its atmospheric and emotive pop soundscape, “Venusian Light” is a melodic, climactic success from Eleri Ward, who is originally from Chicago and now based in NYC.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
