A memorable new single from Brussels-based band CMON CMON, “Headwind” is the third single from the EP of the same name. A harmonious pop and rock cohesion shows within, complemented by themes of personal destiny — and specifically, following one’s own path. CMON CMON’s frontman Jorrit adds: “And no matter what blocks that path, you have to keep going. You must face whatever is trying to kill you.”
“Headwind” builds with a breezy, melodic charm as glistening guitars and lush keys drive into a soaring vocal presence. “When you’re hesitating, they’ll come for you,” they let out, complemented there by sturdy acoustic strums. A title-touting embrace — “headwind is blowing,” — takes hold thereafter, reflecting on those aforementioned themes of following one’s own path. The track proves strongly relatable, capturing how everyone’s life journeys are presented with diverging paths, though also the power to personally decide the direction. “Headwind” is a lushly affecting success from CMON CMON.
