ttypes – “The Shing”

Bouncy pop radiance and nostalgic doo-wop converge delightfully on “The Shing,” a track from ttypes, the solo project of Grand Rapids, Michigan-based songwriter Tim Krauss. He describes the single as “a breakup song inspired by Ursula K. LeGuin’s City of Illusions.” Expressive vocals and a piano-led prancing traverse into the catchy refrain: “You are the shing, and I don’t ever wanna see you again.” The bright instrumentation and harmonious vocal layers converge for another memorable success from ttypes, impressing in the past with a variety of releases.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
