Ripsime – “Shamanic Faith”

/

London-based artist Ripsime succeeds with an atmospheric electro-pop balladry on “Shamanic Faith,” whose dazzling production reminds fondly of Little Dragon’s lushest works. Ripsime describes the release as channeling “my frustration over the lack of genuine understanding from those around me and grapples with the resilience I feel I’ve lost.”

Spacey synth pulses and slight backing percussion builds into radiant organs and dreamy wordless vocals; the momentum from the start is palpable. “I hope you make it,” the opening vocals entice, complemented there by a suave bass drive and illuminated synth entrancement. “I’m tired of dancing in the dark,” Ripsime continues, lamenting on a sense of solitude and the ensuing “I lost shamanic faith,” refrain.

Playful guitar jangles enter thereafter as multiple vocal layers interact with contagious immersion. The blending of guitars, synth, and soulful vocal vibes result in a hypnotic, replay-inducing charm. Full of stylish atmosphere and heartfelt ruminations, “Shamanic Faith” is another standout from Ripsime, who has caught our ears in the past with releases like the Capsule I: Wicked & Wise EP and the track “Paradise.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
