Midnight Sky – “White Heat”

/

Depicting insatiable desire within a rousing Americana production, “White Heat” is the new single from Midnight Sky, a Dayton, Ohio-based group led by Tim Tye. Paige Beller’s lead vocals are an invigorating force within, channeling a bluesy soulfulness, while guitarist Derek Johnson excels across a variety of contagious guitar riffs and solos. “The song is basically about unbridled lust—no sentimentality whatsoever,” says Tye, who drew particular inspiration from the phrase “Nero fiddled while Rome burned down.”

“White Heat” develops with an infectious display of yearning. “Give me some of your white heat,” the confident vocals emit, traversing into a fervent guitar solo. “Ice fields when you walk by, great lakes dry up and die,” they continue, melding smitten “I like it hot,” admissions with a no-frills rock charisma. Bursting guitar solos appear at numerous points within, then building back into the fierce vocal segments with cohesive enthrallment. “White Heat” is a rockin’ good time from Midnight Sky.
