Jakey Orbit – ‘Amethyst’

/

The newly released album from Finland-based artist Jakey Orbit, Amethyst is an enamoring electronic success — conjuring a strongly atmospheric, melodic sound amidst inspirations of 2010s EDM. “That era’s melodic, high-energy sound, emotional progressions, and festival anthems shaped my approach to production,” Jakey Orbit explains, also noting that Amethyst “is an album born from late-night nostalgia, synth-fueled heartbreak, and the realization that life moves on—even when you don’t want it to.”

Opening the album, “Amethyst” exudes an effervescent glow in its twinkling keys, radiant synths, and clap-laden percussive playfulness. A more pulsing rhythm presence pairs with swelling synth elements for heightened, anthemic moments — particularly as an arp-forward invigoration takes hold into the two-minute turn. “Ground Zero” ensues, continuing the ardent infectiousness as concise synths navigate with gleeful immersion amidst enthused vocal sample punches. Amethyst quickly shows itself as a strongly melodic, illuminated electronic production across its opening one-two punch.

The album continues to impress thereafter, continuing to balance lush introspection with moments of bursting passion. “Dreamstate blvd.” is a particularly enveloping example, expanding from starry-eyed trickles into more triumphant glimmering. “Stargazer” struts a similar momentum, traversing seamlessly across dreamier intrigue and stirring expanses. Exotic wind instrument sounds align with buzzing synth entrancement on “HARAJUKU” for another standout. Amethyst is a lovely electronic success from Jakey Orbit, impressively venturing across both serene late-night walks and spirited illumination.

“Amethyst” is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Electronic.
