An inviting, soaring rock and pop cohesion shows on “Circumstances,” the new single from Nashville-based band Dallas Ugly. They describe the release as “about dreaming up a future with someone with whom a future could never really be possible or even right, but you still find something in yourself through the fantasy.”
The debut single from their upcoming album See Me Now, “Circumstances” proves magnetic in its overall production — reminiscent at points of Tennis’ soaring, twangy pop expanses, in addition to Camera Obscura’s anthemic heigths. “I put a letter in the mail, it’ll get to you someday,” a melodic vocal lets out amidst jangling guitars and shimmering backing acoustics, kicking “Circumstances” into enjoyable gear. A hooky, harmonious production emanates from start to finish from there, as the vocals ask “was it all a fantasy?” with delectable intrigue.
