Cass & the Sass – “Little Brick House”

/

A suave blend of soulful rock and modern Americana appeals on “Little Brick House,” an engaging new single from Washington, DC-based band Cass & the Sass. Cassidy Marie’s vocals are a standout element throughout, seamlessly building with chilled-out intrigue with smitten sentiments — yearning “just for you to be mine, and for me to be yours.” A sweltering guitar solo hits at the two-minute mark, invoking a bluesy soulfulness as Cassidy’s vocals continue the “want us to be together,” aspirations.

Recorded in one take, the track’s easy-flowing vibe and adoring lyrical prowess combine for a thorough earworm from the act. Rock, Americana, soul, R&B, and bossa-nova inspirations converge with tasteful cohesion. Also featuring guitarist Graham Horman, bassist Lawrence Langley, and drummer Ryan Usumi — who channels a bossa-nova serenity in its playing — the project excels on this track. Look out for their upcoming releases and performances across the DC area.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
