Caleb Loomis/Supra Nova – “I Love You I Hate You”

/

An impassioned, stylish pop production, “I Love You I Hate You” is a newly released single from Salt Lake City-based artist Caleb Loomis, also known by the alias Supra Nova. Loomis handles all elements of the track’s production and performance, releasing under both his name and alias in showcasing its dynamic balance: “The dual identity allows me to explore different facets of my creativity, with Supra Nova representing my introspective, poetic side and Caleb Loomis embodying my technical, experimental production style.”

“I’ll hold you close, I’ll break your spine,” an eerie vocal envelopment arises, building into a climactic swell during the title-touting proclamation. The first minute alone wastes no time in showcasing the production’s riveting, electronic tonal prowess. The breath-y, spacious initial intrigue builds into dark-pop balladry and an ensuing raucous “run and hide!” foreboding. Buzzing synths and flourishing strings follow, as the “hold me closer,” and “scream for me,” yearnings enthrall.

“Do you love me? Take me home,” the next sequence begins, traversing into another bursting sequence of pulsating rhythms and distorted, industrial-forward guitar tones. Impressing with its heartfelt introspection and hook-charged energy alike, “I Love You I Hate You” concludes with a powerful “I love you…” refrain, satiating in its overall emotive sincerity and eclectic tonal charms.
