Ben Somerville – “Diminishing Eye”

/

Charleston-based singer/songwriter Ben Somerville shows a rousing folk/rock cohesion on “Diminishing Eye.” Described as “about the fault-finding and judgment which come from a place of loneliness,” the memorable track comes via Somerville’s upcoming album, Entanglement.

A bass-heavy pulse shows initially, joined by suave acoustics and Somerville’s introspective, title-touting delivery. “Diminishing eye / All alone / Passing by me every sunrise.” The more folk-ready beginnings rise compellingly into a final rock-friendly segment, exuding shades of Radiohead in the more frolicking guitar twangs and quivering vocal ferocity.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
