“Dreamer” is a stirring new single from Arcade Velocity, who first caught our ears back in 2016 with the track “November Drive.” The Swedish project was formed by multi-instrumentalist Albin Ström in 2004.
“Dreamer” kicks into enjoyable gear quickly. Fuzzy guitars and radiant synths intertwine with melodically caressing qualities. Booming bass pairs with guitar/synth interplay for a sound that reminds at points of New Order, though with a dreamier, modern sheen aided by submerged vocals and hazy guitars — adding a shoegaze-y attribute to the dream-pop and new-wave reminisces. “Dreamer” thoroughly induces replays with its atmospheric, melodic drive.
The track comes via the new album Swim Into The Void, streaming below. The artist notes that the track “was actually the last song I finished for the album. It was also the song that made me inspired enough to mix and master the whole album (Swim Into The Void). For that reason it might be the most important song on the album, at least on a personal level. I also believe it highlights my particular fusion of electronica and alternative rock music.”
