Western Threads – “Sex Cult”

/

Austin-based band Western Threads project a soaring rock and folk cohesion on “Sex Cult,” exploring the pitfalls of both purity and corruption within an array of memorable vocal duets and twanging guitar-driven momentum. The opening two verses begin with contrasts — “last night I had a lovely dream,” then shifts into “a dirty dream,” — as cleansing of sins and the power of companionship are referred to with artful intrigue. The husband/wife duo of Jacob Lewis and Ainsley Richter enthrall with their impassioned vocals and poetic lyrical prowess, resulting in a thorough success.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
