The Kerosene Hours – “Happy We Try”

///

Captivating with its darkly emotive sound, “Happy We Try” is a newly released single from The Kerosene Hours. The multimedia project of Los Angeles-based artist Aaron Silverstein pairs alt-rock and darkwave synth on this magnetic production, following up previously featured successes like “Dance For Money” and “My Dirty Car.”

“Happy We Try” melds the atmospheric brooding with relatable thematic pursuits, revolving around the seeming inevitability of how some things are doomed to fail. “This song is about how overwhelming that feeling is, and how eventually we learn to take solace in knowing we gave it our best shot,” Silverstein says. Creaky guitar tones and reverbed percussion moves into his moody vocal presence, playing with ghostly quivering entrancement as chilly synths enter around mid-point. “Why can’t we just laugh instead?” the vocals inquire, seeking light within dark and admitting “but I’m happy we try,” at the very least. “Happy We Try” is another gripping showcase in atmosphere and emotion from The Kerosene Hours.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
