The Gilhoolys – “The Passing Of Time”

/

Glasgow-based act The Gilhoolys shows a spirited, hooky rock ascent on new track “The Passing Of Time.” The project, led by Paul Devlin, succeeds in a contemplative yet decisive call — musing about the passing of time, and how adversity will naturally arise. “This is my time!” the enthused chorus lets out, reflective of the driving action to embrace determination and resilience in the face of such tumult. “You pay the price,” snarling vocals let out thereafter, referencing paranoia and ensuing heartbreak as rousing guitars approach the track’s mid-point.

“Please let it go away,” the vocals plea during a magnetic bridge, scaling back the more impassioned rock sound into a more melancholic yearning. “I call out your name…” they continue, seamlessly blending into the “passing of time,” verses and its bass-heavy embrace. “The Passing Of Time” is a resonating showing from The Gilhoolys, who have an upcoming show supporting James (Jay) Lees in Glasgow, in March. We’re excited to see what else is in store for the act in 2025.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
