Pete Price – “This Time”

/

Twangy guitar frolicking and introspective lyricism appeal on the compelling “This Time,” a newly released track from Pete Price. “This time it will be different for me,” Price sings during a riveting refrain, complemented by mandolin alongside the steady rhythms and jangling guitars. A debonair guitar solo wonderfully caps off this sequence, moving into mandolin-laden exuberance as the final minute takes hold. “This is not goodbye, this is hello, my friend,” Price’s vocals continue, emphasizing personal renewal with artful precision.

“It’s a song about having the right to reinvent yourself,” Price explains. “You have no real responsibility to be consistent, although you should always try to be kind and ethical.” Contributions from Casey Davis on electric guitar and Allen Seals on mandolin add to the compelling production, strongly displaying a rootsy folk and Americana intertwining. The emphasis on “what’s to come,” and an ensuing “give it all I have,” rise invigorates in its perseverant, encouraging qualities. “This Time” is amongst the many highlights on Price’s new album, Pictures in Time, streaming below:
