Noorani – “oceans” + “MISTAKE”

/

An atmospheric late-night rock introspection dazzles across two new tracks from Noorani, a sibling duo from Washington Heights, NYC. They describe “oceans” as exploring “an inner conflict between the desire to escape emotional abuse and the petrifying fear of leaving an old life behind.” The more recent “MISTAKE” plays as “a 3 a.m. subway ride away from the people and places that hold you back.”

“oceans” grips in its emotively sincere evolution, spanning from dreamy introspection to rousing rock anthemics. “Feeling like I’m stuck,” the hazy vocals lament, depicting emotions of sinking underwater and going beyond the realm of being heard. Shimmering guitar pulses surround with hypnotic effect. Twinkling synths and steady percussion further immerse, as fears of leaving are conveyed with passionate lyrical precision. Haunting wordless vocals follow, carrying into a fervent second half with powerful dual-vocal entrancement and a more rock-ready bolstering.

Meanwhile, “MISTAKE” exudes a smitten demeanor amidst a gripping fusing of grungy guitars and lush, nocturnal synths. The vocals layers converge seamlessly as the “doing just fine,” admission takes hold and the “out of your own way,” hook delights. A desire to let go of mistakes resonates within this atmospheric rock production. Both “oceans” and “MISTAKE” are memorable standouts from Noorani.

These and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
