Eleri Ward – “There You Go”

/

New York-based artist Eleri Ward unveils the first single from her upcoming album with “There You Go,” a gripping pop production with ascending vocal introspection and melodic charm. Last year’s track “Moss” caught our ears with its dreamy intrigue, continuing to showcase Ward’s successful foray into original songwriting following acclaim for her acoustic Sondheim covers.

“There You Go” continues to emphasize an emotive yet hooky pull, complemented by relatable themes of self-discovery and core beliefs; Ward cites gratitude, karma, and humility over ego as several of the values explored “in a musical, sarcastic critique of entitlement, privilege, and insecurity.”

The track’s production proves magnetic in its melding of atmospheric piano, meditative rhythms, and powerful vocal layers. “You look back on what you had, and see it wasn’t yours,” Ward sings during a compelling verse, complemented by ghostly backings; the contemplative perspectives on where life is heading, and the potential tumult ahead, invigorates within the context of aiming for selflessness above egotism. “There You Go” is another stirring success from Eleri Ward.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
