Y is Nature – “Trouble”

Taking inspiration from the “spy thriller” genre in film, “Trouble” is a compelling new single from Y is Nature. The Oslo-based project of Hjalmar Littauer, Y is Nature seamlessly melds acoustic and electronic aspects. Alongside co-producer Martin Solli, Littauer impresses with a consuming sound here — preceding his upcoming album Evasion, set to release in February 2025.

“Trouble” is the album’s second single, and plays within the self-described “spypop” genre as a tribute to James Bond. The initial orchestral intrigue and whispered vocals certainly establish an enigmatic quality, which we can anticipate to continue throughout Evasion. The thumping bass and serene vocals build into gorgeous orchestral movements for a delectably debonair sound.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
