Vases – “Strange Mathematics”

//

“Strange Mathematics” is a dynamic success from Vases, the moniker of Los Angeles-based musician Ty Baron. Elements of shoegaze, post-punk, and electronica compel within, marking another success from the project — which caught our attention in prior years with tracks like “Here To You” and “Champagne Lust.”

“I could take your pain away,” vocals let out during a particularly memorable sequence, complemented by a whirring blend of glistening keys and distorted undercurrents. This lead refrain echoes around an electro-pop and rock intertwining, before traversing into a “you keep falling like the leaves,” post-punk moroseness. “Strange Mathematics” is a stylish, eclectic swell of emotion that hooks into replays.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
