Simon Shackleton – “House of Mirrors”

A delectably dark track from Simon Shackleton, “House of Mirrors” compels in its buzzing synth whirring and emotive vocal rises. Admissions that “I’ve lost my way,” in a house of mirrors melds with chilly piano and heartrending piano, casting an enjoyable eeriness throughout. The single is described aptly as “a tale of self-doubt, vulnerability, and finding strength in the darkness.”

The track comes ahead of Shackleton’s album The Shadowmaker, scheduled to be out in February 2025. The album’s title track caught our ears in October, and now “House of Mirrors” has us even more fully anticipating the upcoming full-length.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
