“Paradise” is the memorable new single from London-based artist Ripsime, stirring in its electronic-touched soundscape and post-punk rhythmic inclinations. Ripsime’s vocals flow lushly alongside, melding with the instrumentation for an ’80s nostalgia fondly reminiscent of Kate Bush. Described as “a heartfelt tribute to those we’ve lost too soon,” the track navigates the beauty of eternal connection — and especially how certain relationships transcend beyond the physical realm.
Full of atmosphere, “Paradise” develops with an emotively gripping intrigue. “I spend so many nights, wasting all my light on you,” Ripsime sings amidst funky guitar warbles, rapidly pulsating bass, and ghostly synth flourishes. Playful keys and reflectively dreamy synths enamor as the rhythms escalate and the vocals ascend into an “if I die…” rumination. “Wish you didn’t go so soon,” a melancholic reflection enters as the finale approaches, chilling in its mixture of twangy guitars and orchestral-like adornments. “Paradise” is a moving, impactful showing from Ripsime.
“I anchored this track with a solid bass foundation recorded on a Fender Precision by my bandmate, Luke,” Ripsime says. “We embraced an 80s vibe with the drums, while Luke layered bass effects using various chorus and distortion pedals, perfectly matching the build-up to the drop. This became one of my favourite tracks to produce because it flowed so effortlessly.”
