A warmly melodic rocker from Meyru, “Georgia Says” is described by the NYC-based band as “a story of a long love gone awry and contemplates the notion of trying again.” The band first caught our ears in 2019 with the post-punk/grunge melding of “Running Day Dreams,” and “Georgia Says” presents a more caressing approachability in its “you moved on, just in time,” introspections and inviting rock production.
“I’m alright,” the vocals let out at one point, celebrating a sense of moving on just in time — though leaving open the door to try again. The two-minute turn proves especially magnetic in the wordless vocal infusions and rising guitar momentum, falling seamlessly into a quaint acoustic-laden charm as the “I’d like to try again,” admissions cap off this success from Meyru.
