A playfully engaging folk track with a spontaneous, loving vibe, “Baked Potato” is the latest track from Liz Nash, an artist based in Mount Dora, Florida. Themes echo in regards to how “art is everywhere,” per Nash, who was inspired by one of Andrea Stople’s writing exercises. “I was working on a writing exercise and I was really hungry. I took a break and all I could find was a bag of potatoes,” Nash says. The track’s creative process clearly took off from there, and the result is a charmer.
“My little baked potato, you have a little halo,” smitten vocals arrive, declaring adoration for “my little baked potato,” as suavely stylish guitars emanate alongside. Descriptions of an unpretentious bud arrive back into the “little baked potato,” refrain — then enjoyably traversing into comparisons of other options, like ribeye or cordon bleu. But there’s nothing like that baked potato, in terms of satisfaction, and this lovable track from Liz Nash captures precisely that within sincere conveyances of hunger and yearning.
Nash elaborates more on the track’s creation process and the collaborations involved:
“I recorded, “Baked Potato,” at John Marsden’s studio in Orlando, FL. I met John through a mutual songwriter friend, Kayonne Riley. I record vocals and scratch guitar there and then reached out to Jeff King who’s based out of Nashville. He laid down tracks for guitar and both John and Jeff helped with production. I liked the direction of the song and reached out to bass player Oskar Cartaya and drummer/percussionist Paul Gonzalez. They recorded their parts in Southern California and sent the tracks over to John at his studio where he did his magic.
